Ideas and Water Aerator Reviews - FAQ and Questions
- Just bought a water faucet filter.. how do i remove water aerator?
Step 1 of installment is "Remove aerator from faucet." How do I do that? I tried just twisting with a wrench, but there seems to be some kind of gunk(light green, kind of chalky) keeping it held tight. Any suggestions on how to clean and remove?
A The gunk is a mineral build up and not part of the faucet itself. If the aerator has no flat sides for a wrench, then wrap a piece of rubber or cloth around the aerator before twisting it off if you want to save theaerator without scratches from the pipe wrench. If it has trouble moving, tap it with a hammer to loosen the minerals. Once it is out, spray some household cleaner on the interior threads and wipe with a cloth to remove build-up before installing the filter. Good Luck!

- Why does my new sink have low water pressure when aerator is installed?
I just replaced my bathroom sink. Both lines have adequate water flow, and when the aerator is removed, I get adequate flow out of the faucet. The aerator is clean. However, when I reinstall the aerator, the flow becomes just a drizzle with both hot and cold water settings. Any ideas what could be going on? Thank you for the help.
A disassemble the aerator and clean. There are two parts to an aerator. A round disk with a single hole which snaps into a round hollow pan that has pin holes punched around the perimeter. Use a small punch or fork tine to stick in the single hole and pry these two pieces apart. The clog is inside.
