- How to make an aerator for 1 acre pond?
I have a 1 acre pond and want to aerate it. I don't want to spend a lot of money and was looking to make the aerator, either fountain or bubbler, instead of buying one. I am looking for detailed instructions. I'd be willing to pick up a sump pump or a pool pump to make this work. The unit does have to be large enough to work on my pond and, from what I've been reading a 1/2 to 3/4hp should work. I don't want to kill my electric bill in the process.

Remember since wind power is not constant it is usually used to charge a battery bank with D.C. which is then converted to A.C. for domestic use. The residential electric load is then attached to the battery bank and inverter. These are costly items once you get above loads of a few hundred watts - an iron or a toaster can require over 1,000 watts. In spite of what the tree huggers claim - we are a long way from being able to supply residential and industrial quantities of economical electricity via wind or sun.
