Faq – About Lawn Aerator

William asks…

Lawn Question- Which to do first Aerate then seed or seed then aerate?

We are getting ready to re seed our established lawn. In the past we have hired someone to thatch, aerate and seed. This year we have decided to save some money and do it ourselves. We have thatched the lawn and now we want to aerate. My husband says we are suppose to seed first then aerate. I say just the opposite, you should aerate first then seed, so the seeds fall into the holes left by the aerator. Does it really matter which comes first?

Thanks

Staff answers:

Aerate first, then water-the existing lawn will need the ability to absorb the water to sustain the blades of grass and provide a haven for the new grass seeds to “fall into the hole left by the aerator” and grow strong healty root structure to give a full lawn appearance to your yard.
Ask the professional you used and/or look at their itemized bill for the services that were done before-then follow their application.

Maria asks…

i would like to know some basic lawn care machinery and how Much they would cost?

such as an edger, plug aerator, stuff in that category and how much they would cost

Staff answers:

Basic lawn care equipment usually consists of a mower, blower and a string trimmer. Few gardeners use an edger any more and very rarely do you need a plug aerator. For any of these items go to a store like Home Depot and a couple of lawn mower shops and price the items your really need. Are you a home owner or a kid that is just trying to earn a few bucks for the summer? Either way decide what you really need and what your budget is.
