Staff answers:

Yes that would be fine to use in yr tank, i would also use a air pump too this will put more oxygen in yr tank i actually use 1 15 inch air stone aswell as 1 undergravel air pump and have a 305 fluval filter system on my 4ft tank

Lizzie asks…

Aerator pump cuts off when boat speeds up past idle speed?

The pump is brand new, the fuse it recomends is a 4amp and i have a ten in there. (doesn’t phase the pump at all) until the boat starts to plane. THEN IT SHUTS OFF!

But turns right back on when i flip the switch twice???

Thanks!

What kind of boat? What motor? What’s the output of the alternator, and is it regulated? What condition is your battery in? Is it a good quality marine battery?

I don’t understand what you mean when you say the fuse “doesn’t phase the pump” — the purpose of the fuse is to protect the pump and wiring. If it gets stalled by something caught in the impeller, that pump will burn itself out before it draws 10 amps — might just as well not have a fuse on it at all.

What kind of pump is it? I never saw a livewell pump with the kind of circuitry that would be sensitive to over/under voltage. If you have a fishfinder, those usually shut off at say, under 10 and over 17 volts or so.

Do you have the pump on a resetable circuit breaker instead of fuse?

Are any of your other electrical devices affected?
