Faq – About Aeration Stone

Jenny asks…
zebra danios aeration question!!!?
ok i know zebra danios dont really need a heater but i was wondering bout aeration? like an air stone etc… do they need that?
Staff answers:
Correct, danios are happy in stratum of 55 to 78 degrees F.
Aeration of the water only occurs at the surface where there is enough time for the exchange of CO2 an O2. An air stone placed at one end or at the back of the tank creates a current in a gently rolling fashion for the aeration at the surface to occur.
The rising bubbles cannot dissolve in the CO2 saturated water. Less than a tenth of one percent exchenge occurs with the bubbles from an airstone.

Sandy asks…
What are some good fish set ups for a 10 gallon tank?
Filter in top of hood so good aeration, will adding an air stone increase the amount of fish able to keep if not what does.
lots of different options for tropical please
Staff answers:
No, aeration doesnt.
For ur tank, u shouuld get…………
1 swordtail
2 black widows
1 molly
2 guppies
1 platy
1 female betta
i think that would be a good tank.
Cycle it first.
Hope it helps!! :::)

Mary asks…
how to set up a simple aeration kit for my aquarium?
I feel so dumb asking this but it does not come w/ instructions or pictures… it has a long tube and an air stone and 3 t valves?? it is all in different languages but english
how do i put this together???
do i cut part of the tube when i am finished since it is long?
and what do i do w/ the valves??
THANK YOU PLEASE HELP!! And please don’t be mean about this question, i’m trying to help my fish!!
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! I so forgot the part that plugs in… i was trying to hurry to get all of my other fish supplies i just grabbed a pack and left… another trip to meijer
Staff answers:
The valves are your spares. Put those away for when you need replacements.
Now put one end of the long tube into the airstone. There should be a pointy thing like this ——— . Next connect the other end to the actual part that gets plugged in. There will be a tiny hole to push the tube into at one end. You can cut the tube if you want, but personally I would leave it in case you decide to move your aquarium and it needs a longer tube.
Now place the stone into your tank. Then plug it in at the wall and everything should be up and running.
It was not a dumb question. We all need help, so always ask.
